Torahime is a woman that could easily be described as very driven, and isn't one that jokes about or takes things lightly. This is especially true of her duties to the Kagami clan, and in particular the defense of the Kuzuryu Muramasa demon blade. (And of course revenge, since this is feudal Japan). She does not want people to get hurt or die (although she has less problems with already-dead sprits being exorcised). However, she knew when she returned to the land of the living that her time was limited - despite this, she does whatever it takes to accomplish a task. Setbacks such as being captured by giant spider monsters or suddenly encountering an exorcist are met with disappointment, but resolve as well; she knows she is capable of pushing past them.

When dealing with allies, neutrals, and to some extent her enemies, she wears a stern, inflexible expression and gets straight to business. As an authority figure of sorts, she has little experience with small talk with people she isn't close to. Despite this, she sees no reason to be anything other than honest.
Her very sheltered background has made it a little bit difficult for her to be actively social as well. She tries to be approachable, she has to, but won't go out of her way by choice to talk to people she doesn't know. She doesn't go out of her way to talk to people that she doesn't know really well, either.

Once sufficiently opened-up to, however, she will open herself up as well, admitting her worries and other thoughts if she gets the chance. However, there are only two people that are this close with her - Kisuke the ninja, and her younger sister Momohime, who's been dead for six months (or so she thinks.)
Backstory:
Torahime is the eldest daughter of the Kagami clan, which is responsible for protecting the demon blade Kuzuryu Muramasa, long since the container of a vengeful Inugami's spirit. Assisting her in doing so are the rest of her family and a large retinue of warriors, as well as a certain Buddhist monk.
Her younger sister Momohime, however, was someone she loved very much, and had no part in guarding the cursed sword. They had fun together as two sisters would...
...up until the day that Momohime died. Someone (a swordsman, Yagyu Yukinojyo (last first) by name) had taken her to be married, and the younger sister went missing, presumed dead. What actually happened was that she was taken over by the soul of a morally-questionable swordsman but that's another story.
Six months later, ninja under the employ of the Shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi attacked Narukami (not that one) in Mino Province, from the inside. One of them, Kisuke, had been disguised as a castle servant for months now and had slowly grown fond of her - enough to take a lethal blow for her in the heat of battle.
That, sadly, was not enough to stop Torahime herself from dying that day.
She pleaded with Amitabha for a way to stop the destruction the Kuzuryu Blade would bring and was granted 49 days in the world of the living. The Kagami warriors, as well as her beloved horse, came from the Netherworld to aid her in reclaiming the Kuzuryu Blade from the Shogun.
Kisuke, it turned out, had somehow survived that night at the cost of his memories and was sent to capture her. After being defeated in combat (although all Kisuke hit was the horse), Kisuke petitioned her for information, and she complied before rushing to Edo, army in tow. However, they encountered a Yamabushi on the road, who exorcised the majority of the army. Having no way to continue further, Torahime instead retreated to Yamato Province, to consult the monks and receive the Mark of Defense - their only way forward now was through the ancient battlefield of Kawanakajima, possessed of an evil air that drives normal humans mad.
Torahime was summarily captured by a Tsuchigumo that had relocated to the temple and is rescued by Kisuke. Later, her force is stymied by another ghost army at Kawanakajima and Kisuke once again comes to their rescue. The next step in her plan is to destroy the source of the barrier at Mt. Fuji, but she falls on hardship there as well, as the now-crazed Dragon God proves unreasonable and undefeatable except by Kisuke (once again).
Kisuke offers to go into Edo Castle first as a distraction for Torahime, and their plan succeeds... but Torahime somehow gets to the Shogun ahead of Kisuke and is killed in Kisuke's arms. However, in doing so she achieves enlightenment and is able to watch Kisuke successfully battle Tokugawa at the cost of his own life.
Apologizing for her selfish desires, she asks to forever be reincarnated with Kisuke, her love.
Truly, it would be the happiest of endings...
...and then Philemon made an offer.
Canon Powers:
Effectively, Torahime is a normal, other than her archery skills, which are Strike (Pierce). The "Mark of Defense" placed on her in the storyline of the game has worn off.

The window, and a large chunk of the wall around it, is missing, giving everyone in Hinoto-Ri that cares to look a charming view of it. And then her voice comes across.]

Nothing could be done. Despite these "doctors" and the healing magics that were common in this city, all she could do is wait for this illness to pass on its own.
She sighed. She knew Kisuke had come down with it, too, and was almost as bad off as she was, if not more so. And yet, they couldn't be together, by whatever whims of bureaucracy had chosen to separate them.
There had to be others, she knew that too, but she couldn't do anything for them, either. She was a shrine maiden, and she couldn't do anything... ha. It didn't sit well with her.
She would need to redouble her efforts after all this was over. For herself, for everyone... but especially for Kisuke.
